"But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” Luke 18:16-17

Children & Youth

At each youth group meeting, the children receive a 3 course dinner including desserts such as ice cream buffets and chocolate fountains! If you’re in Elementary School, Middle School or High School, and looking for a fun and safe place to land to learn about God’s unconditional love, come to our youth ministry.

The United Methodist Church of Spring Valley Youth Group is a place where the youth of our community can come to draw closer to God as well as grow in relationship with the people around them. We want to provide a setting where young people feel comfortable to have fun and where God is at the center of all we do!

We would love to see you in the group.  Feel free to bring your friends and come ready to have a good time and experience God in new ways.  To keep up to date with what is happening, we encourage you to Like us on

Our Vacation Bible School is open to any child from Pre-Kindergarten through sixth grade regardless of church background. This five-day program provides Bible lessons, crafts, music, recreation, and snacks using well-developed curriculum that changes each year.

Join us every year for a NEW Vacation Bible School theme. : Joy of Jesus! Everywhere! All the time!

In 2016, students Pre-K through 12th grade immersed in Bible stories all about ROOFS through faith-filled games, science activities, crafts, music, and more. Heard familiar stories like David’s Praise; the Prophet thanks the rich woman; paralytic lowered through a roof for healing; Paul teaches, Eutychus falls; and the Roman Centurion believes in Jesus power. It was a wonderful time of exploration, learning, and fun under the theme of: Joy of Jesus! Everywhere! All the time!

Confirmation refers to the decision a person makes to respond to God's grace with intentional commitment, publicly reaffirming his or her baptismal vows before the congregation. Most confirmands are youth who have been nurtured in the church since their baptism as an infant or young child but confirmands may also be adults.

All 7th and 8th Graders or older who have never been confirmed are welcomed to attend our Confirmation Class. This year's confirmation class begins on February 19th, 2017. We will study basic Christian beliefs (why do you believe what you believe?), United Methodist history (what’s in a name?), what it means to be a member of the church (United Methodist Church of Spring Valley), and what it means to be a disciple of Christ.

It’s not just classroom learning. Activities in the past have included three required trips to:

  1. Methodist Archives at Drew University in New Jersey
  2. General Board of Ordained Ministries in New York City
  3. Historic Methodists Churches in Philadelphia, PA.

On the Sunday when they join the church (at the end of May), there are many festivities to celebrate their achievement and welcome them as new members. If you would like to participate in this class, please contact the church office at 845.356.0238 or via Email: springvalleyumc@gmail.comThe Confirmation Invitation Letter and the Registration Form  are available here to download. To learn more about the United Methodist practice of confirmation, visit the UMC.org page FAQs: Confirmation

 THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

The best way to experience church the way God intends it is to get connected to others within the church.

All God’s children are special here at The United Methodist Church of Spring Valley, and we strive to provide spiritual formation opportunities for all ages in varying ways in a safe and loving environment from Children Sunday School and through many Youth activities and programs. We have a vibrant week-long innovative, hands-on, interactive Vacation Bible School for all ages. The congregation holds strongly to its baptismal vows to our children to “surround the children with a community of love and forgiveness, that they might grow in their service to others.”

Children and youth programs at The United Methodist Church of Spring Valley are as follows:

Sunday School

The United Methodist Church of Spring Valley Sunday School runs from September through May. We offer classes for children from age 4 through 12th grade.

The children worship with their families and are dismissed during worship to attend Sunday School. Through fun activities, arts and crafts, lessons on scriptures, and/or videos, the children learn about salvation, grace, and God’s presence with them. We are grateful that we can provide a safe and fun place for your children to experience the love of God.

Our teachers are special and treasured volunteers of all ages who week after week give up time on Sunday morning and time during the week as they prepare for their weekly lesson.
